Pray for Our Country

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. ~Psalm 33:12~

I am a big believer in praying with Scripture and I have compiled a list of Scripture that you can use when praying for our country. Please consider these Scriptures as well as your own. You can substitute, for example: (our Country, our, us, our enemies, etc.) where applicable. By changing just a few words, this will become your personal plea to God.

Be creative. Think of other words, look for other Psalms (I am partial to Psalms) or other Scripture of your choosing. I really love doing this. I believe God loves to hear His Word being lifted up in prayer.

Please remember, we have enemies within and without our borders. Proverbs 28:28 says, "When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive. Se we need to pray for Godly elected officials to govern our country, and I mean city, state and national levels.

Scripture for Prayer:

Psalm 3:7

Arise, O LORD!  Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.

Psalm 9:17-20

The wicked return to the grave, all the nations that forget God. But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish. Arise, O LORD, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence. Strike them with terror, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men.

Psalm 11:4-7

The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.

Psalm 31:14-16

But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. Let your face shine on your servant, save me in your unfailing love.

Psalm 35:4-10

May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay. May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away; may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them. Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me, may ruin overtake them by surprise--may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall in to the pit, to their ruin. Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation. My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.

Psalm 38:19-22

Many are those who are my vigorous enemies; those who hate me without reason are numerous. Those who repay my good with evil slander me when I pursue what is good. O LORD, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God. Come quickly to help me, O LORD my Savior.

Psalm 64:1-10

Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from that noisy crowd of evildoers. They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows. They shoot from ambush at the innocent man, they shoot at him suddenly, without fear. They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, "Who will see them?" They plot injustice and say, "We have devised a perfect plan!" Surely the mind and heart of man are cunning. But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be struck down. He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn. All mankind will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done. Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him!

Psalm 143:11-12

For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.
