God Promises
Victory
When you
think of victory, what particular event first comes to your
mind: defeating the enemy, winning a football game, winning a
race, or perhaps success in overcoming obstacles? All these
are certainly good and valid statements for winning.
However,
the victory I would like to address here is victory in God. Keep in mind as you read that victory is within your reach if you
are totally dependent on God.
In 2
Chronicles 13:18, God's Word says, "The men of Israel were
subdued on that occasion, and the men of Judah were
victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God of
their fathers."
Again in 2
Chronicles 14:7, God's Word says "The land is still ours,
because we have sought the LORD our God; we sought him and
he has given us rest on every side, so they built and
prospered." God made their enemies to be at peace with
them.
These are
powerful scriptures. What a great God we serve! It
is important that we totally comprehend how wonderful our lives can be if
we rely completely on God.
Here is what the Bible says to those who do not depend upon Him. In Jeremiah 17:5 God
says, "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on
flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the
LORD. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will
not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the
parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one
lives. I wouldn't care to be in this person's shoes!
Read what
God says about the man who does place his trust in Him. Isaiah 17:7 says, "But blessed is the man who trusts in the
LORD whose confidence is in him, He will be like a tree
planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
I believe
we could all agree that our best option would be placing our trust completely in
God.

With God

victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those

You, dear
children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one
who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. ~1 John

Isn't God
Awesome! Speaking now on a broader perspective, there is more
here than just winning the battle--as Christians we can win
the war.
In 1
Corinthians 15:54 God's Word says, "The sting of death is sin,
and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
In 1 John
5:5 God says, "Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he
who believes that Jesus is the son of God."
Revelation
2:10 says, "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I
will give you the crown of life."
The crown
of life--it doesn't get
any better than this. We can overcome death just as our Savior
did. Our victory is
eternal life with God in Heaven.
