~April
8, 2010~
I saw it yesterday, I am sure,
Today I do not know.
Yesterday spoke of pure,
Today it's all about the dough.
Our rights were of great value,
Honesty deemed a good thing.
A man's word stuck like glue,
Surely as the first day of spring.
Christian folks had freedom to
worship,
With no fear of being denied.
They did not worry about
censorship,
In God's comfort they did abide.
Symbols of Christianity openly
displayed
In Government offices, a common
sight.
In any public place
People bowed their heads and
prayed.
This was good; this was right.
Christian holidays observed
By one and all regardless of race.
Celebrations and customs were
preserved,
Everyone had their space.
Common courtesy and respect
For your fellowman was the norm.
Everyone mattered regardless of
intellect.
We rode it out, weathered the
storm.
Yes, there was violence and crime,
But there was punishment in that
day.
Crime--costly, you served your
time,
Hopefully to find a better way.
I saw it yesterday, I am sure,
Today I do not know.
Who we are I'm not sure anymore,
Please God, help us to re-grow.
