The Beating of a Heart

The beating of a heart,

Alone and full of sorrow,

Will leave us devastated,

With no longing for tomorrow.

We balk, we hide, we fear,

Won't let the Savior in.

We push His love away,

 Forgetting where we've been.

God hears us when we call,

And cry out with our pain.

He longs to fill the space,

Like dew after the rain.

 When we finally realize

Life is not a game,

And allow God to lead the way,

He will always sustain.

The beating of a heart

In tune with the Savior,

Is love overflowing,

To our very core.
